Welcome students and families!
Hello! Welcome to my webpage. I am a dyslexia specialist for 2nd and 3rd graders at Houston Elementary. I am starting my 18th year at Houston and my 25th year of teaching. (I taught for a year in Clifton and for six years in El Paso before coming to MWISD.) I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades as well as reading intervention and dyslexia classes.
My husband, Jason, and I live in Stephenville with our dog, Kenzie. Jason and I have been married for 25 years. I grew up in Stephenville and got my degree from Tarleton State University. We love to travel--one of my favorite places we have been is Prince Edward Island, where we visited the Green Gables house where Lucy Maude Montgomery spent time as a child. (Anne of Green Gables was based the time she spent there with her aunt and uncle. If you haven't gotten to read or listen to the book, I highly recommend it!) New York City is pretty cool, too.
On the next page, you will see some examples of activities we do regularly in my dyslexia class. The program we use for our classes is highly structured and systematic with proven success.
